Kurina: Definitely seems like a bit of a lame move to release a game for a standard price on GOG and Gamersgate, then at the very same time put it in a pay what you want bundle, where you can get it for practically nothing and undercut both stores. Poor form imho.
Exactly.

I'm fine with the game being in a Humble Bundle in say, a few months. But on the date of release on other sites? I'm sorry GOG, but I would kick their asses out for doing something like this...

Hell, if you buy the pack, just do what others are doing here. Give all the money to charity. Amanita really burned many bridges with this pack, both with distributors and with gamers.

... is this a joke?

Why the heck are they selling the game ON A HUMBLE BUNDLE ALREADY?! ON THE DAY IT GOES ON SALE EVERYWHERE ELSE, EVEN?!

Are they trying to boycott sales on GOG or something?
This is just...weird. Yeah, I don't know what Amanita Design is thinking; who knows if they told GOG this when the contract terms were being hammered out, but either way, it's not looking good for GOG at the moment.

The only thing I can think of right now that would make some sense is that Amanita is testing the waters to see what sticks as a launch/sales strategy for their games; for this they likely got their inspiration from the Humble Voxatron Debut. They may have even taken notes from Spiderweb's seemingly successful experiment at selling their games on Steam for significant discounts. Between GOG, Steam, and the HIB, they've got pretty much all their bases covered to sell to pretty much every part of the gaming market, from the tech-savvy DRM-eschewing indie-lover to the generic gamer browsing Steam.

Sadly, it's no skin off of my back, as the HIB's multi-platform release means that it'll likely be the only time I'll see a DRM-free Mac/Linux copy of the game discounted like this.
This is crazy move. People can buy it for 0.01$ for drm free version and get 2 more games for free. Crazy if you ask me.
Yeah, it does look weird at first and completely took me by surprise. I knew that Amanita would offer the soundtrack with the game, as opposed to GOG, so I didn't pre-order and waited for the release, but I wasn't expecting this.

But look at it this way: Everyone who saved a dollar by pre-ordering from GOG can now spend this dollar to also get the full soundtrack, if they'd like to (and get two bonus game they may or may not have). And as for myself, I was thinking about getting Botanicula from Amanita, not GOG, before this bundle came up, because I wanted the full soundtrack - now I'm considering buying it from GOG and spending a few extra dollars on the Humble Bundle.

Besides, this might not be the best deal for GOG (and any other DD site that sells the game, don't forget that GOG is not the only one), but it's pretty sweet for the customers. As much as I love GOG, what I love even more is GOG's philosophy: trusting customers, treating gamers fair, offering awesome deals, and all of it in the name of the DRM-free movement. So IMO it's kind of weird to chide Amanita for being good to the customers, too, just because our favorite shop doesn't profit from it.

Plus, I see no real reason for those who already pre-ordered the game to feel cheated, at least not if you like the game and meant to support GOG and the developers, because then it will still be worth your pre-order.

And the bundle might get Botanicula lots of attention, but it will only be available for a short duration. After that, everyone who missed it and is looking for a good deal might find it here on GOG, so maybe it's also free promotion for this site.

It's almost impossible to top the Humble Bundle no. 4, but it would be nice to have a bundle with GAMES.
Half of this bundle can be described as an art project, some might consider it whole a big artsy bundle.

edit: Oh yeah, a pox on Amanita!

i am kinda new to the humble bundle. it says now to pay $5 for steam keys (while it was $1 at first) i dont want to use steam, but i do use desura.
what would be the odds of there coming desura keys? and would i expect to pay $5 a minimum too?

I think they have stoped using desura some time ago.

No desur keys for recent HIB...I wouldn't pay $5 for steam keys..
So, this is basically a day-one sale on Botanicula with bonuses. Everyone who preordered has been officially ripped-off. Traitors!

First ever Humble Bundle I'm skipping, and gladly.
Leroux, the problem is, you haven't saved that 1 dollar. You overpayed 8.98 for botanicula itself

(as you may pay 0.01 and get it drm free with soundtrack and two extra games)

Here's a recap for those not entirely sure of what's going on:

Amanita Designs created a new game, Botanicula. GOG.com (and GamersGate I gather) have had it up for pre-order for a standard "normal" price for about a month. Today's its release date. And it's immediately in a new Humble Bundle for pay-what-you-want, ALSO bundled with their previous games (which are sold separately in GOG/GG -- since the same time about a month ago), and also with extras like full soundtrack, etc, with the Humble, not available to those who pre-ordered with GOG/GG.

And much raging -- I feel legitimate -- is occurring because of it. It's a pretty ham-handed thing to do to both your customers who pre-ordered and to your business partners who decided to use you as one of their premiers to roll out a whole new line of products.
You only overpayed 9 bucks if you're the type of skeevy loser that pays 1 cent for these things, which I'd hope nobody around here is.

I think this happened before. The humble voxatron debut, or something. Not the first debut humblebundle, in any case.

Skipping this one, hah.
Thx for the replies, wont pay $5 for just the steam keys then. also i don't find it fair too for GOG and their buyers.

I couldn't pay more than 0.01 to the company that treats me like a fool.

They clearly don't know what pre-orders are supposed to be... They should be rewarding to the customers, not punishing them.
