Due to the licensing agreement with Codemasters Colin McRae Rally 2005 will be removed from the games catalogue on Wednesday, July 29. The good news is we've included the game in this week's racing promotion!
Starting from today until Monday, July 27 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, you're paying only half of the original price for [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/colin_mcrae_rally_2005]Colin McRae Rally 2005, and [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/megarace_3]MegaRace 3 and we're paying the other half for you! It means you can grab Colin McRae Rally 2005 for only $4.99 while Screamer and MegaRace 3 can be yours for only $2.99 each! Don't wait, as it's your last chance to grab Colin McRae game for such low price before we'll remove it from GOG.com's catalogue. Check out the promo page for details.
Thanks for the heads up GOG, but what's up with Codemasters pulling their Racing titles? First Toca 3 and now colin mcrae rally 2005?
Ouch.
Aye. Whats wrong? Why Toca Race Driver 3 and now Colin McRae Rally 2005 are being removed?
I think TOCA was because of licenses they use in the game - Codemasters couldn't distribute it indefinitely.
I grabbed CMR without a second thought though. I think this was the shortest announcement-to-purchase time for me yet! Probably under 1 minute :)
Not so sure if I want CMR, never really did the hang of CMR 2.0 which put me off the series. But 2.99 for Megarace 3 will probably get me buying that one...
I think they stated in the previous post that it has more to do with the licensing with the car manufacturers and/or racing competition licensee holders than Codemasters. Ib other words they've probably have a set date when Codemasters can't sell the game anymore ( or at least restrict them where and how they can sell it ) thus this being planted downwards to gog.com

How thoroughly silly.

probably because they had a world wide license to use specific car names, and because that license is expiring they can't sell the game anymore because they don't have a license to those names.

I assume the problem with Colin McRae is the same problem TOCA had: Codemasters licenses for the cars used in Colin McRae will expire soon. Then again, TOCA is still available for purchase in Steam :S
The worst part of this fantastic offer (apart from the removal of CMR2005) is that my debit card still refuses to work with GoG :(
EDIT: Heh, four posts with the same explanation already. We need a 'Preview' button :)

While I am not a fan of the racing games offered, it still sucks to hear of a game being removed due to licensing (or any other) reasons.
Do you think they will be able to sell the game in the future or will that require a renewal of the license?
Mmm... Screamer, game of my childhood ^_^
If I'll buy CMR, will it be available after Jul 29?

Yes. You will still be able to download it from your "My account" area.

It will be available for download for users who bought it before Jul 29th.
Bought all 3 just a while ago.

Ouch.

Codemasters is using many different licenses within the game (cars, car parts, sponsors, etc.) and their agreements expire at some point. As they (nor we - although we would be eager to do this ;) can not separate licenses from the game, we have to discontinue Colin. Hopefully we will be able to deliver some more driving games from Codemasters soon :)
