Aye - though that seems to be why the CC only method is the standard in such cases.
On the note of paypal / unfair - I can't purchase from gog via my debit card at all as my bank blocks paypal as "fraudulent" Heheh!
We absolutely need more sexual content in games, gratuitous if I can have a request for it.
It's hard to put every game with sexual content in one basket, but as far as distribution goes, I think anything and everything should be fair game. There are ESRB ratings there to inform the consumer (or the parents of said consumer) how innapropriate or offensive said game might be to that person in particular.

I think that the consumer should be the one deciding what goes in his shopping bag, but not what is on the shelf. Even if I don't like something or might be offended by it, another group, small or large, might greatly enjoy those experiences. If we just avoid stepping on every toe out there, we will soon end up having to use a pogo stick instead of walking. At some point, in some level, someone will be offended by something, and the sum of all these people will make all content potentially offensive.

I believe in complete creative freedom, and this goes to distribution as well, even on highly controversial games. Let the market be the death sentence of a game when consumers don't buy it due to a lack of interest instead of any sort of pre-judgement arbitrarily handed down.

As for my personal stance on sexual content on games, I have nothing against it. As any other tool available to the game developers, it can be used in a way to enhance the storytelling or to wreck the script. Sometimes I will play/read a visual novel with that kind of content as well, so there is also that (last one I played/read was Saya No Uta - loved it). I also love Monster Girl Quest, though I frequently find myself yearning for less porn and more story in that one.

Agreed, my opinion is bring em on. Don't see the downside from a consumer point of view. Don't see why it is bad for young people either, I was young once.
I couldn't care less either way. It's like they don't exist to me.

But, I'm a fan of freedom and self censorship, meaning give me a game and let me decide if I want the blood, sex, etc through game options (like customizing my controls).

Niggles: Really dumb question. Why cant they just put those types of games into an Adults Only category?. Or is Steam just trying to play the high moral ground?
If there was an Adult Only category on Steam combined with a way to check if you're adult, they wouldn't have to offer censored versions of violent games to Germans. They're not trying to play the high moral ground, they just can't be bothered to install the means for Adult-Only business transactions.

I've always thought that this "here's the line and thou shalt not cross it" attitude was silly. Just perform some reasonable age check to comply with local laws on sale and let the customers decide whether they want it or not.

Sex is just another tool, and it can be used poorly or used well. I'm glad somebody out there is trying to break down those barriers.
I wouldn't play a "porn" game, but if the game is about something else and the sex fits naturally into the plot, I won't go all puritanical about it.

That being said, I tend to be more aware of the subjectivity of content creators than most so if it were not done properly (which most of the time it's not in other media) and I had the impression that I'm exploring the game designer's sex fantasies, it would make me uncomfortable on some level as most game creators are male and my heterosexually score, if they had one, would be pretty high. To me, it would feel like I'm having virtual sex by proxy with a guy which is not really my cup of tea.

100% for more sex, sex positivity, the stuff that surrounds sex (including kinks, the various gender identities/expressions, body types, etc.), etc. in games.

A bit less then 100% for more smut. Smut's part of it, and it can be a lot of fun, and it can absolutely fall into sex-positive areas (example: Oglaf, which is very, very smutty, but also smart, funny, and progressive). Mostly though I'm just sick of Biff Hardcheese shooting a dozen guys, banging a girl with huge knockers, and then running off to shoot more guys, and that's what sexual content is outside of indies more often then not.
Not really something I would be interested in, but I see no problem with stocking those titles on the shelves for those that do. As far as I am concerned, a credit card check is enough of a verification for me. If parents hand their credit cards over to their kids without looking at what they are buying, then that is bad parenting in my book and not a fault of the store.
Besides the same parents that complain about sex in games, probably have no problems with the violence and gore in games. Just look at the parents that complain about a character in game saying "Fuck" and turn the blind eye to the violence. A bunch of puritanical idiots.
But then I think we coddle kids too much now a days.

Here in the US, everybody knows that video game, like cartoons, are ONLY for children. Adults never see them, teens rarely see them, they're only for children, and wanting to show hardcore porn to children makes you a sick, sick, evil person!!111

Everyone knows that here, violence is perfectly fine and even good for children to see, but sex is very very very very bad. Since ONLY children play games, why would you have sex, which is something disgusting and unnatural, when instead they should be torching people with flamethrowers and shooting up masses with their 27 guns? What do you mean adults play games? Of course they don't. /ignorant ignorant stupidity.

The majority of americans are very prudish and immature regarding sex and nudity. Of course games should include graphic sexual content of anything you can imagine. Either it will sell or it won't, but that shouldn't be up to gvmt or anti-freedom assholes to dictate what the whole country can do. Live and let live.
I don't see the problem with selling games focused on sexual content. I really wouldn't mind it. I would even buy some of them if they had a good story.

Too bad games are still seen by many people as something aimed exclusively at kids, which is far from being true. Heck, even games that shows girls with less clothing makes people get up in arms about it. Remember Anita and her "femminist crusade" against games?

I really don't understand why blood and gore get a free pass and sex is such a big taboo. I personally find violence to be much more offensive than sex. Sex is something normal is everyone's life, shooting people in the head isn't.

Anyway, what's the problem with selling mature content online? It's not like it's hard for kids to access porn online, is it? At least buying is harder than doing a simple google search for porn.
I'm all for more erotic in games. Especially combined with interesting gameplay.
Considering the vast majority of pop videos are porn these days, whats a few games really? ESRB already exists to prevent the underage from getting such material normally. People should have a choice. If they don't like it, don't buy it or buy it with censorship.
The more sexual the better. Our society needs to get away from all the violence. Sexuality is not a bad thing AT ALL. We all learn about it eventually.
