For those of us who do not understand Spanish, but might have something to say in the discussion, here's a Google translation.

Mertellx: Have you thought to add the Spanish language to the forums and the support website or will you continue to discriminate?
Apologies for possible misunderstandings, as the above is pretty much what I have to go by (I understand the English word "discriminate" as rather negative word, even when used in the concept of "positive discrimination" as in to treat a certain person or group better than others).

I quite doubt that they're discriminating against Spanish-speaking users, if that were the case, they're also discriminating against Swedish, Turkish, Greek, Japanese, Thai, and most other languages in the world. They have nothing against those languages, but most likely, they have done some calculations on the matter and found that the extra cost would not be worth the possible extra income.

Do remember that the reason they support Portuguese is not primarily due to your neighbour, Portugal, but Brazil, which I would guess is a rather large market with relatively few English-speaking potential customers while Spain probably have a larger percentage of people understanding English well.

Chinese is spoken my more people than speak Spanish. There is no Chinese forum here either.

EXACTLY!

But that doesn't mean they are discriminating against anyone. It is a small company, still growing. A short time ago there was only English. They have expanded on that and soon there will be a Spanish forum, and a Chinese forum. Rome wasn't built in a day.

They barely have enough staff to take care of what they do have. Let them grow, give it time. They will get to it.

I'm from Spain, and I will not translate your post. But I would never use an automatically translated web/forum. I would keep using the english version (I actually do this in other webs).

Having said that, I would appreciate more game translations into spanish. For example, the "Commandos 2" game was made in Spain, but the spanish version was available only in Dotemu (before they closed).

<end translation>

You BETTER post the Wikipedia link that states this fact, or I'll send you to the corner of shame!
(Just kidding. And no offense to the OP, but you did a mistake by using Wikipedia to prove something. It's not exactly the most trustworthy website out there)

If you're curious the numbers are 1.2 billion Chinese to 400 million Spanish. And I checked 3 or 4 different sites on that.

I think people get confused by that because they don't realize how populated China is. The population of China is about 1.2 billion. :P It's not like it's a widespread language where masses of people on every continent speak it, as is the case with English or Spanish.

Of which Mandarin speakers are actually "only" around 950 million. Still more than Spanish...

EDIT: apparently 950 million is the number of all Mandarin speakers around the world (i.e. including Chinese living abroad). The percentage of those in China is less. Still more than Spanish...

Mi ne voto.
I do hope spanish speaking users receive support for their language in the near future.

I believe the problem lies with the currency. I think GOG is less interested in simply localizing it's store to a different language, and more in courting a new market with not just the language but also a new currency and new payment options. Which I'm certain is the real challenge.

In the case of the russian Ruble and the brazilian Real it was a simple matter, even in the case of other countries speaking the same language they knew what the biggest market was and what to focus on, and in Portugal's case they already had support for the Euro anyway.

With spanish, Spain has the Euro as well, but they no doubt have their eye on the mexican market as well with its Mexican Peso. Then there's the rest of the spanish speaking countries in Latin America, of which there are many. It should be impossible to support all their currencies, but I'm certain that GOG wouldn't go through with this change unless they find a way to facilitate payment methods for the influx of customers from all these other countries that is bound to happen.

Basically, I think it's a much more complicated and time consuming endeavor than simply putting their store through a automatic translator. Expanding support to spanish speaking countries is however a logical step to take, and I'm confident they are working on it right now.
