The whole Final Fantasy series. I don't hate it, I just don't really like it.

I see we have a few MMO haters, that's good. Hopefully they won't arrive here at all (unless the developers release tools to host on home computers).

I don't understand the hate for Bioshock however. I can understand that people dislike it but but the only reason it's popular was because it was heavily hyped and got like 10/10 on all previews. I didn't read a single one of them, played at release and I had no expectations so I guess that was an advantage on my side.
Oh yeah. Like many westerners, I also stupidly knee-jerkingly hate any game that has "manga" graphics. This makes me miss out quite a few popular classics, like Final Fanasy etc...

F1ach: Dead Rising
I agree with you there. I hate games with time limits, especially when they are really narrow, like in DR. Fallout was not a problem for me because it's almost impossible to run out of time.

Also some of the bosses have a terrible design. It looks like they were made to frustrate the player, not to be a challenge. Looking online on some tips how to defeat bosses i found out that most tactics involve "cheating" the AI, like hitting from a position that the boss couldn't see you. It seems to me that there is no "normal" way of defeating bosses.

Oh, and those stupid people you had to rescue, who just LOVED to run into an army of zombies to hug them.

Catoblepas: I'm a bit starved for good modern rpgs at the moment, considering my dislike for the modern Bethesda and Bioware games, luckily I have acquired a good amount of older rpgs from GoG to play which I am very happy with. I am currently greatly enjoying the Geneforge series, so while I might be a disappointed with the previously mentioned games, all is well.
The Witcher 1 and 2.

macuahuitlgog: Why? I dislike the game because it is really hard. I don't hate it though because it is a zombie apocalypse game.

F1ach: yes, its such an artificial difficulty, people defend it saying that it's supposed to be like that so you have to replay it, I just thought it was a pointless repetitive pile of shite, I love zombie games, dead Island would probably be my current favourite, I even loved Resident Evil 5 tbh :)
Yeah, in Dead Rising they just throw shit at you at the worst times to make your life as hard as possible. It is like the main character has the worst luck in the world.

Yeah, MMO is in my black list. It is a huge waste of your time, money.,,, and really addictive

Bioshock only committed one sin, though it was a cardinal sin, it was boring. I didn't hate it, I just wasn't engaged at all, it wasn't scary or grotesque in the ways they were aiming for. I'm not sure how they could have changed it, but I felt like I was some faceless automaton wandering through a weird realm of grotesque looking automatons.

Filthgrinder: So, what game(s) can't you stand or hate, but for some reason "everyone" loves it / them?
For me it would have to be Skyrim. I keep on diving back in from time to time because so many people speak so highly of it, but it just feels like depressing grind to me. I'm not sure what I'm missing to make it enjoyable, any suggestions? I'll give it another few weeks and then try again.

I tend to agree, being a westerner myself, that the manga art style is an instant turn-off on most occasions. There are a few games I have played through despite this art style and enjoyed (Valkyria Chronicles and Gunstar Heroes immediately come to mind). More often than not, however, it poses a problem for me.

You should be able to get through the first Xenosaga too, they manage to nail the epic "fun-ness" of those sorts of games in a way that appeals to both audiences.

adanedhel728: I actually dislike any game that thrives on frustration. I'm quick to quit playing a game if it's frustrating, and I'd much rather a game be too easy than too hard. I know almost everybody runs to the "You just hate it 'cause you suck at it" thing, but the truth is I don't go to video games for accomplishment. If I want accomplishment, I'll do something in real life. I play games to relax. And if a game's too hard, if it's more aggravating than it is fun, then I just don't think it's worth playing.
I've got to agree. Although it does really depend on the game. I've been playing Stalker CoP with the MISERY mod installed and it's crazy hard. I even had to 'mod' the mod a bit to make it playable really. But I enjoy it for what it is, and it certainly doesn't feel unfair.

But that's the key thing for me, a game should be fair challenge. Sometimes developers seem to resort to cheap tricks in order to make their product challenging or complex. One of the things that always bugged me with half life (and other games besides) is that it often felt like you'd get hit with a cheap shot that you have, little or no way of avoiding if you haven't memorised the level. Sometimes it's frustrating and other times it just detracts from the game.

I much prefer a game to lay it's mechanics in the open and say lets play. If enemy AI is programmed in such a way that they are able to do something truly smart and out-think me in a battle, well that's ok, I lost fairly. But If you spawn an enemy right behind me as soon as I walk into room x... well that's borderline trolling in my opinion haha! :)

More on topic, I wouldn't say I hate Half life, but I sure as hell don't love it as much as most people.

I certainly hated Gears of War, Project Gotham Racing, and Modern Warfare.

They had the AI of lemmings on Xanax, it was a pita rescuing them, but it was amusing asking for help on defeating an enemy...

How do I kill the clown?

Get the Machine gun off the jeep

How do I get the machine gun off the jeep?

You need a sniper rifle and/or a shot gun

I have two cartons of milk and a handgun, where can i get the shotgun or sniper rifle.

You need to know where to look for weapons, have you got the SMG's yet?

No, where are they?

They are hidden, you have to jump on the rail and then onto the blue awning at the shoeshop, then follow it around past the teddy bear and...

...WTF????

Life is too short for that crap :)
Diablo / Diablo II. I really tried to like these, but can't get too far without getting bored. Every few years I give it another shot, but I've never enjoyed playing it. I need more story than it's got. I do enjoy the Tristram theme though.
Dragon Age Origins, evry1 was like, how awsome old school rpg is this, when I was feed up with "rpg mechanic" and "enemy auto lvl".
