I noticed some post about how Final Fantasy has "manga" graphics/art-style. I would like to correct you on that! Final Fantasy has never had that kind of graphics/art-style EVER, but with it being a JRPG it does have a certain art-style that might be mistaken for "manga." If you ever take the time to look at the original concept art for some of them you will notice that it was never in anyway meant to have a "manga" look to it, not even close. I do apologize for the rant, but Final Fantasy is my favorite RPG series that I am hoping can be saved from it's current downfall of suck.

But on topic I absolutely HATE the Monster Hunter games, and yet they seem to be so damn popular recently. Before any of you go ranting about how I should give them a try, I have and I still think they suck. I prefer some actual story over mindless munching on hours of my life just to hunt down some big baddies.

retro_gamer: I don't like Assassins Creed series. I played it and was amazed that so many people loves it so much. There is nothing to love there. Boring, simple, simple, boring...and boring and simple again.

But that is only my own opinion. I know that different people like different games and that is fine with me.
Assassins creed is great because it is simple.
I'm playing through Splinter Cell right now and although I wouldn't say I hate it, it has been really disappointing so far. The gameplay is just way too linear and formulaic compared to other stealth classics like Deus Ex and Thief.

Why is that such a big deal that splinter cell was too linear to me it was exactly the same as thief
I hated FF: Crisis Core for the psp terribly, but so many other people swear it is the best game for the system.

I agree, they were quite similar games. Both great in their own way.
I can be cliche and state that I despise Call of Duty or Halo, but I am not going to do it and state some other ones instead. (I apologize for the long wall of text, but I feel as though I should at least give some good reason as to why I do not like these games.)

Sonic Adventure - I... hate... this... Sonic game. Seriously, many fans of Sonic say this was one of the best games on the Dreamcast and I ask myself why they think that. It is loud, annoying, and frustrating to play. I don't know if it was the Gamecube port as I never played the Dreamcast version, but I had so many issues with the camera that it became near unplayable for me after a while. I say this since I have understood that the Gamecube version is essentially the Dreamcast version but with some extra content.

Need for Speed Underground - My reason for hating this is probably going to be childish, but I really did not like the Fast and the Furious style this game had that set the stone for what the future Need for Speed games were going to be like. When I think Need for Speed, I think of a racing game that has the thrill of driving awesome sports cars on awesome tracks with awesome original music. Underground only provided the car bit while everything else just didn't work for me.

Street Fighter II - This I will get a lot of flack for but hear me out, I understand Street Fighter II is a classic and I respect it as so however, I do not like it at all. It might have something to do with playing it after being weaned with fighting games that don't require extreme amounts of skill such as Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Dead or Alive, and Soul Calibur, but I for the life of me CAN NOT get good at this game at all, and it ruins the fun of it for me when I get defeated even on the easiest level of difficulty. I have tried multiple versions over many years and to this day I still can't play it well enough for it to be enjoyable for me.

Team Fortress 2 - I have had an on and off relationship with this game but the overall feelings I have towards it is just, meh. I can't put my finger on it but something about it just doesn't really ring right for me. I mean I enjoy the art style, the gameplay, and the class characters themselves, but I just can't get into it.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - This game is nothing special to me, yet I enjoy BioWare's games. It might have something to do with me not being a huge Star Wars fan but the game just bored me, I couldn't really get myself to get too far into it at all.

And last, but certainly not, least, and the grandaddy of them all, at least to me:

Saints Row: The Third - This was probably the biggest disappointment I felt from a game in quite some time. While the gameplay of the game improved, everything else in this game was a major step backwards from Saints Row 2. The city of Steelport is a boring, dull place compared to Stillwater in 2. I mean Stillwater actually felt alive and fun to cause mayhem in, Stillwater is just dead with no joy in doing that activity. Plus the game lacks in activities and customization to do outside of the story. Plus the humor is a huge miss to me, Saints Row 2 was ridiculous, but the ridiculous things in the game flowed naturally. Saints Row: The Third's humour is forced and barely funny which really disappoints me since I feel that the Saints Row games are the true 3D incarnations of the original GTA games which I enjoy to this day because of how ridiculous they are compared to their successors.

Adokat: Ah yeah, I forgot to include that in my list. I don't mind playing games like Mass Effect on Insanity difficulty, but RE4 was way too frustrating on normal. I beat the it, but I just despise the game.
Really? RE4 on Normal is really not that difficult.

Comparing Splinter Cell to Thief is like comparing Fallout to Baldurs Gate. Vastly different games that only look the same.
Diablo series. I enjoy a bit of hack and slash, but I will never, ever understand why these bland, badly animated, mind-numbingly tedious games are so widely loved.

Final Fantasy 7: Effectively ruined modern JRPGs with it's many terrible tropes (eg: Spiky haired, whiny, emo girly boys carrying sword as big as they are) becoming the genre standard.

Skyrim: Ok, I get it, you have well animated dragons, you can put them away and let me experience something else now. The game is not as big, nor anywhere near as epic as the developers think, when dragons become a chore rather than a reward, you've seriously screwed up. It did not deserve to overshadow Skyward Sword either.

Halo: Halo's success is due to one thing, and only one thing, being a pretty tech-demo/somewhat competent shooter on a platform lacking identity and an exclusive title for the fans to cling to. If it had been released for PC where it would have been judged against many, many far superior designs it would have been mostly dismissed and now long forgotten. The level design is some of the laziest, slipshod work the genre has, or ever will see, the beloved "Hero" is just a shell that lets you shoot things and the game can't even keep a cohesive tone with goofy cannon fodder enemies and fisher price looking alien weapons that look and feel out of place and jarring in an otherways serious game.

Starcraft Well, I don't hate it per se but just don't like. But I must admit - I'm not exactly sure why. Perhaps my expectations were too high since everybody praises it. I've finished the game and was deeply disappointed...
Going back to the arcades, I never saw the appeal of all those vertical and horizontal shooters, sure some of them were worth a few coins like 1942 with its setting and blowing up of cap ships and the Gradius series with it's interesting take on weapon upgrades, good bosses and the use of vertical and horizontal in the same game, also Silkworm with its tank and chopper thing going on but mainly they were, whether 'bullet hell' or not, just the same game over and over and it was a fairly tedious one to begin with!

Whenever I went to the arcade with a big group they always seemed to crowd around the most generic vertical shooter imaginable while I wandered off and found something a bit more quirky and original like PacLand or Paperboy...

After playing Deus Ex I always wondered 'why the hell am I actually wandering around at street level, surely the sewers or rooftops would be far more stealthy and sensible' I wasn't asking for more than one root though the levels I was just expecting one that wasn't moronic, especially after all the preparation for doing split jumps etc in tight alleys..

I thought it was okay back in the day. It was a fun Warcraft in space. But a year after the amazing awesomeness of Total Annihilation? Meh.

Yeah but I didn't enjoy it even then although I liked (and still like) Warcraft.

As for Total Annihilation - I think I'm in the mood to play it right now!

I'm sure Sam, Agent 47 and Snake would love to sneak about in sewers all the time. Sewers are dark and monotonous. Why would anyone want to get all stealthy down there?
