Paper Sorcerer, a unique-looking grind-less mixture of RPG and adventure coming with more than 40 floors of dungeons filled with encounters, treasure, traps, and puzzles, is available 20% off on GOG.com, for Windows and MAC OS X. That's only $3.99 for the first week!

I've spent mosted of my mortal life researching the arcane arts, looking for ultimate power to grant me dominion over the world of men. Always buried in books I was. It seems only fitting, that one of the infamous grimoires became my prison. Oh, those accursed do-gooders had no idea what they were doing, trapping me in here. Yes, I might be locked away… for now. But I am locked away in the place that is one of the greatest sources of magical power that ever existed in the multi-planes. I refuse to acknowledge my imprisonment! I refuse to recognize all of the strange creatures of this world as threat! They shall become my minions, or they will become my prey. My enemies might have won a battle, but the war is still raging, away from the plain sight. Sooner or later, I shall bring it back to them, more powerful than ever!

Paper Sorcerer is a stylish single player turn based RPG focused on strategy, party-building, and environmental puzzles. Fight with the skills and spells you've learned in a battle system that emphasizes strategy over grinding. Assemble a party of monsters and dark creatures to fight alongside you. Explore and solve environmental puzzles to unlock secret paths and find extra loot! A double-sided adventure, an RPG with adventure game elements. Please note that the Paper Sorcerer Mini-Guide and Artbook will be added soon to the game shelf.

Dive deep in to the fascinating and surprisingly colorful (for a mostly monochrome game) world of Paper Sorcerer, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The 20% release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, June 3, at 9:59AM GMT.

yyahoo: Got it for $1 on one of the recent Humble Daily Bundles (one of the few I actually put any money into)... Haven't gotten a chance to try it yet, but it looked like it might provide some decent entertainment.

Does anyone know how long the game is?

Grargar: Apparently, a bit over 10 hours?
I'd say it took me around 10h too to beat it.

Bit late considering it's been on Indie Fort bundle on GG awhile ago and just few days ago on Humble Daily bundle just few days ago. Probably on other sales and bundles too not to mention it's pretty much been on every DD store out there for awhile now. Really should've been release day title on GOG. Have it on GG so will consider it when it's 75%+ off here.

Roman5: The artstyle looks rather cool, sort of reminds me of MadWorld
I've eyed MadWorld, but it looked so messed up I wasn't sure. But then I play games like Lollipop Chainsaw, Catherine, El Shaddai, and every dark themed game under the sun.

Would you recommend MadWorld?

jforte: The paper graphics really remind me of the dungeon crawler Dark Spire for the DS. Coincidence??? ...Yeah, probably. Can't wait to try this!
this is a long shot, but are you, by any chance, related to dfortae?
As always, exquisite timing in the release.
But it's a decent release I suppose.

Niggles: Yeah i can see that.. bit of a bugger...

JudasIscariot: Musicians need to eat too :)
I can understand musicians should get money , but .....

as many mentioned the time frame for this release is quite bad :

it was in a bundle last week (Drm free) , WITH the soundtrack included (mp3 + FLAC)

so you see where i go .... (anyway the game isn't sold separatly on HB Store right now)

In other hand it's a good game for those who missed the offer on humble bundle, but without the soundtrack...

IF only GOG , could advertise in advance the incoming games (i don't speak of preoder & such), that probably should help the site to gain more money.... i always though, it' was a tad absurd to not advertise which games are coming here a bit in advance.

The game has several difficulty modes, the hardest being 1980s (Im serious, that's what it is called). I have about 30 hours into that mode and still haven't beaten it, although you WILL need to grind to get through it.

The gameplay is first person real time, but with combat that reminds me of Phantasy Star in terms of layout. THe health/defense system is pretty neat as well. It definitely adds some strategy to the combat, but in turn, combat can take awhile.

I really enjoy this game. I was a huge fan of Dungeon master style games in the day and absolutely adored Grimrock. This game, with a little more polish, could easily stand next to grimrock IMO
Interesting little side note - the forum for this game doesn't have any posts yet, so look what the datestamp is. :)

Can you clarify which parts are real time, please? The GOG page says turn-based.
high rated
Wizardry like games? Instant buy.

How easily for me to crave in to my collector addiction :)

I suppose I will try it out when I can get through my huge backlog of "Oh Shiny" games

The exploration part. When battles occur, the game becomes turn-based.

If you're not playing anything now, or will finish your current game(s) soon, I'd say queue this one up to be next. It doesn't take more than a few evenings to complete, and it really is a lot of fun.

I would instabuy this - if I didn't buy it already, back in Nov. 2013, directly from the dev.

Paid $10,- for it, and reading now, that GOG's version is 2.3 - while the last version (or update) I got emailed about was 2.1b is quite a bummer.
