Paper Sorcerer, a unique-looking grind-less mixture of RPG and adventure coming with more than 40 floors of dungeons filled with encounters, treasure, traps, and puzzles, is available 20% off on GOG.com, for Windows and MAC OS X. That's only $3.99 for the first week!

I've spent mosted of my mortal life researching the arcane arts, looking for ultimate power to grant me dominion over the world of men. Always buried in books I was. It seems only fitting, that one of the infamous grimoires became my prison. Oh, those accursed do-gooders had no idea what they were doing, trapping me in here. Yes, I might be locked away… for now. But I am locked away in the place that is one of the greatest sources of magical power that ever existed in the multi-planes. I refuse to acknowledge my imprisonment! I refuse to recognize all of the strange creatures of this world as threat! They shall become my minions, or they will become my prey. My enemies might have won a battle, but the war is still raging, away from the plain sight. Sooner or later, I shall bring it back to them, more powerful than ever!

Paper Sorcerer is a stylish single player turn based RPG focused on strategy, party-building, and environmental puzzles. Fight with the skills and spells you've learned in a battle system that emphasizes strategy over grinding. Assemble a party of monsters and dark creatures to fight alongside you. Explore and solve environmental puzzles to unlock secret paths and find extra loot! A double-sided adventure, an RPG with adventure game elements. Please note that the Paper Sorcerer Mini-Guide and Artbook will be added soon to the game shelf.

Dive deep in to the fascinating and surprisingly colorful (for a mostly monochrome game) world of Paper Sorcerer, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The 20% release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, June 3, at 9:59AM GMT.

grimwerk: Can you clarify which parts are real time, please? The GOG page says turn-based.

Grargar: The exploration part. When battles occur, the game becomes turn-based.
Thank you!

Gnostic: I suppose I will try it out when I can get through my huge backlog of "Oh Shiny" games

IAmSinistar: If you're not playing anything now, or will finish your current game(s) soon, I'd say queue this one up to be next. It doesn't take more than a few evenings to complete, and it really is a lot of fun.
Now I am reliving my nostalgia on some abandon-ware, (Platform-er named Jazz Rabbit2), I had not completed Wizardry 8, my main reason for my love of wizardry games hence the attraction for this. It will be hard to convince myself to play this before completing Wizardry 8

Well I suppose I will get to it, move it up higher in my mental list for game to complete and hope the list won't get reorganized with "Oh Shiny" or Nostalgia from Baldur, Torment, NWN, HoMM.....

been an epidemic of that a bit lately........

DyNaer: I can understand musicians should get money , but .....

as many mentioned the time frame for this release is quite bad :

it was in a bundle last week (Drm free) , WITH the soundtrack included (mp3 + FLAC)

so you see where i go .... (anyway the game isn't sold separatly on HB Store right now)

In other hand it's a good game for those who missed the offer on humble bundle, but without the soundtrack...

IF only GOG , could advertise in advance the incoming games (i don't speak of preoder & such), that probably should help the site to gain more money.... i always though, it' was a tad absurd to not advertise which games are coming here a bit in advance.
lot of people will disagree....

For that case, charity is good for:

(Just joking, of course ^^)
First thought: Oooh, looks interesting. I did love the Might and Magic games, and the graphic style looks nice.

Second thought: (Reading the summary) "A powerful sorcerer is on the cusp of dominating the land. A group of heroes bands together and seals him away," nice, a good, solid, cliche that can be lots of fun. "...you must escape from this ancient prison and..." Wait, what?! Back up a second there. "Now as the sorcerer..." you are the bad guy?! "...find a way to regain your magical powers... Assemble a party of monsters and dark creatures to fight alongside you." FUCK YES! Thank you developer and thank you GOG! And I don't even have to build a wineskin wrapper for it, woooo! \o/ Insta wishlist, picking this up the second my paycheck clears. This just made my Tuesday awesome. I am way too happy about this. :D

Disappointment again. Well, I'll be happy that others are happy, then.

jforte: The paper graphics really remind me of the dungeon crawler Dark Spire for the DS. Coincidence??? ...Yeah, probably. Can't wait to try this!

htown1980: this is a long shot, but are you, by any chance, related to dfortae?
Nope. I'm not familiar with that name, to be honest.

Grargar: It is a bit funny that the Soundtrack costs as much as the game itself.
Not really as the market for the soundtrack is likely to be mostly a subset of the market for the game and thus smaller. Things with a smaller market tends to be more expensive than things with a bigger market (e.g. academic books).

Not weird, just funny.
I kept waiting for this game to show up on GOG, and it kept not showing up on GOG, so I bought it on Gamersgate instead.

The "Especially since the game is not another platformer." made me laugh.

Living up to your username, eh? ;) I made the same (in hindsight, bad) choice. I definitely recommend picking it up on GOG again for two reasons - (1) it's on GOG, and (2) it's the latest version with the bug fixes here. The GG version has some nasty glitches, and they don't seem to care enough about their customers to update it to the new, better edition.
My standard "looks like a good game, but when will big publishers release games here again"...

I was surprised by the number of wishlist votes, that was neat.
This game for me was one of the biggest surprises of the year. I'm glad I bought it here. I try to avoid Steam as much as humanly possible. Score another for Drm-free gaming ;)
