Paper Sorcerer, a unique-looking grind-less mixture of RPG and adventure coming with more than 40 floors of dungeons filled with encounters, treasure, traps, and puzzles, is available 20% off on GOG.com, for Windows and MAC OS X. That's only $3.99 for the first week!

I've spent mosted of my mortal life researching the arcane arts, looking for ultimate power to grant me dominion over the world of men. Always buried in books I was. It seems only fitting, that one of the infamous grimoires became my prison. Oh, those accursed do-gooders had no idea what they were doing, trapping me in here. Yes, I might be locked away… for now. But I am locked away in the place that is one of the greatest sources of magical power that ever existed in the multi-planes. I refuse to acknowledge my imprisonment! I refuse to recognize all of the strange creatures of this world as threat! They shall become my minions, or they will become my prey. My enemies might have won a battle, but the war is still raging, away from the plain sight. Sooner or later, I shall bring it back to them, more powerful than ever!

Paper Sorcerer is a stylish single player turn based RPG focused on strategy, party-building, and environmental puzzles. Fight with the skills and spells you've learned in a battle system that emphasizes strategy over grinding. Assemble a party of monsters and dark creatures to fight alongside you. Explore and solve environmental puzzles to unlock secret paths and find extra loot! A double-sided adventure, an RPG with adventure game elements. Please note that the Paper Sorcerer Mini-Guide and Artbook will be added soon to the game shelf.

Dive deep in to the fascinating and surprisingly colorful (for a mostly monochrome game) world of Paper Sorcerer, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The 20% release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, June 3, at 9:59AM GMT.

Grargar: Considering that the game was released on November 2013, I would have to go with the first for some strange reason. :P
It still feels like a rather long time (six months) to reach an agreement with an indie developer - I could of course be missing something.

HypersomniacLive: Regarding Judas internal review of the game - is that date Dec 6th, 2013 or Jun 12th, 2013?
Either way, it appears that it takes GOG a rather long time from internally reviewing a game until actually releasing it, even when no big publishers are involved. Hmm...
To be honest, I'd rather be patient and wait for a GOG release, and get actual quality control. Some other digital retailers - not naming names, we'll call them "Water Vapour" - are letting anything through, from pure garbage to great games, which is not OK. I like the fact that GOG takes the time to assess games before releasing them, and guarantees customer support along as well as a solid refund policy.

BadDecissions: I kept waiting for this game to show up on GOG, and it kept not showing up on GOG, so I bought it on Gamersgate instead.

IAmSinistar: Living up to your username, eh? ;) I made the same (in hindsight, bad) choice. I definitely recommend picking it up on GOG again for two reasons - (1) it's on GOG, and (2) it's the latest version with the bug fixes here. The GG version has some nasty glitches, and they don't seem to care enough about their customers to update it to the new, better edition.
I have a GG account, but I haven't even purchased anything from them yet. Hearing this, I'm glad I got Paper Sorcerer from GOG. Also, it seems that a lot of games on GG have to be activated through Steam, which is a turn off for me.
I watched a twitch streamer I follow stream Paper Sorcerer, and the dev joined the casts in chat and was really cool and willing to answer our questions, criticisms and praising of his game.

This game is awesome, even if it hadn't been made by a single person. I remember asking him at the time if he was considering bringing his game to GOG and he said he wanted to, as he really loved the service in here, but he was having lots of trouble just with PR and having the game greenlit and all that crap -- he did all of that by himself, too.

I bought Paper Sorcerer from the dev's site when it was released, and even though I'm not a fan of first person perspective dungeon crawlers with turn-based combat and (some) random encounters, I absolutely recommend this game to anyone who's either a long time fan of "Choose Your Own Adventure" game books (the game takes place inside one of those books, and the art style -- again, done by the very same guy who did everything else -- is heavily inspired by the one those books had, with some Mike Mignola thrown in for good measure) or just a plain dungeon-crawler/RPG aficionado.

If there are indie people who definitely need supporting, it's these ones. I'm really sorry I forgot the guy's name, but you, sir who single-handedly made Paper Sorcerer, deserve our thanks and our support, and I can't wait until your next game comes out.

Strange release. First they sell it for PWYW on Humble Dayle and now release here...do they expect big sales now?
Not my thing. Probably interesting for retro type game players. On to thursday then.

tfishell: My standard "looks like a good game, but when will big publishers release games here again"...

I was surprised by the number of wishlist votes, that was neat.

HypersomniacLive: Honest question - how is your standard comment constructive criticism?
That isn't, just me expressing myself. EDIT: In a short and sweet manner because I know I've said that time and time again.

Cool! I wondered what he had started doing after "Britching Bitch".

Can agree with you there.
Lots of crappy games on the top digital seller now, and they wont even refund even if your unlucky and do a bad buy :S
Only one frigging refund.
If you are here, you likely have an interest in this game.

Why wonder?

Knock in the code below, and play it!

Have fun:

Edit to remove code. Sorry that it took awhile, but not all have the good form to acknowledge when something is taken.

I snarfed it up just so I could see how GOG's gift redemption thing worked. (And I was probably going to get this game anyway.) Took me a while to figure out where to go to enter the code -- I thought I would miss out on the "experience" because I couldn't find it.

Here's another copy:

No problem, just has been happening alot lately, and I mistakenly went into my etiquette diatribe :-)
