kai2: Not liking these delistings. Makes me feel like everything here is "for a limited time."
avatar
eric5h5: Well...yeah. That is indeed the case. Same thing for Steam and all other stores. I mean literally all other stores that exist, for all products. Nothing's permanent and there aren't ever any guarantees of perpetual availability. If you really want something, buy it now.
I understand philosophizing a store's impermanence, but...

... my point was meant moreso that games seem to be de-listing here faster-and-faster; some of the games de-listed recently have only been on GOG for 2 - 4 years. That's pretty quick for them to leave sale.

DoomSooth: Kyn was here for at least five years. That wasn't enough time for you to buy it?
No, it wasn't.

I has heard middling reviews when it released here, and at the pricepoint, I wasn't willing to take a chance on the title.

Recently I started a thread and got Kyn as a recommendation. That spurred me to watch some videos on it and...

... decide to purchase it next sale.

Then it de-listed.

I bought it here in 2017 and GOGdb has data for it going back to 2017.

You misunderstood what kai2 meant. The “no, it wasn't“ is not aimed at the “was here for at least five years” part, but at the “enough time for you to buy it” part.

Could Mortal Kombat Trilogy supplant Mortal Kombat 1+2+3 at some point?

Mr_Whiffles: Could Mortal Kombat Trilogy supplant Mortal Kombat 1+2+3 at some point?
I do not think so because they are not the same game. Mortal Kombat Trilogy is an expanded version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, bringing basically all the characters and stages from the first three games into an enhanced UMK3 engine.

I beleive it added stuff that was not in UMK3 like the aggressor bar and maybe brutalities as well, but I could be wrong bc MK3 was the only one I really wasnt a fan of.

Doubtful. Mortal Kombat 1+2+3 are three separate games.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy is an updated version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
Looks like they took down Mafia 2 and 3 for the definitive editions. Doesn’t look like they come with the new ones.

Someone on the EA forums is begging EA not to pull Codemasters’ titles from Zoom which they expected to happen shortly.
https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Please-Don-t-De-list-EA-Games-from-Zoom-Platform/m-p/11783525
Since EA once pulled Ultima Underworld and other titles from GOG albeit temporarily, if you are missing out on any Codemasters’ titles, pick up the ones you want while you can just to be on the safe side in case they get delisted from here.

Thanks for the info. I guess not even Zoom has the power to keep on “legally” selling games that are pulled everywhere else. Still sad to see the last option to buy Racedriver Grid in digital form in 2022 going away. As SCPM said, if you haven’t already got the games you wanted then go for it. It might be your last chance. Cheers

That thread seems to be gone now.

Also, I hadn't been aware that Codemasters was acquired by EA.

"I have heard through the gaming grapevine that EA is planning to cancel its contract with Zoom and de-list these games in the near future."

Looks like someone broke some NDAs here.

"I know you also have a contract with GOG, who do DRM-free games. However, Zoom Platform has distinguished itself from GOG in many areas. They have a strong track record of getting older games working that GOG can't. For example, Mega-lo-Mania is one that GOG had deemed impossible to get working on modern PCs, but Zoom has done it. They also have a great community, a very strong focus on quality and their customer service is far better and more responsive than GOG's."

"Zoom Platform has the technical skills that GOG doesn't to get these games working on modern PCs and help EA win back some respect and goodwill from the gaming community by releasing these old titles DRM-free."

Does they really think that attacking another store in this request is a convincing argument? And what technical skills?

I mean...

LOL. The Zoom Platform shills are hilarious.
