Greetings!!
1. I use Galaxy as a library management program and to download offline installers. I also use the site from a browser.
2. I know it is purely optional, and so I was able to use GOGDownloader this time. Would probably use that mostly for downloads from now. on One of my point was that it is always better to have options.
3. Thanks for suggesting the plugin, and I know we can use third party solutions, but my point was we already have an excellent software like the downloader. I know they have said that it won't be actively maintained anymore, but I just wish it were. :)

When I asked whether I was missing something I was thinking about improvements to the Galaxy's download system (I am not using preview builds). Hope I am clear this time.
BTW has anyone else encountered this problem of Galaxy not saving download progress properly?
hmmm.. i wanted to be sarcastic with the optional word (see the ;) above) as I saw in the past when I downloaded Shadow Warrior 2 without Galaxy, Galaxy just downloaded the whole game again so even though the game version was the same, they have different systems it seems.

The bottom line at GOG is, never hold your breath, so you're best off using alternative methods for the time being.

Darvond: That's great, but I don't want them to get the wrong idea; I'd love Galaxy on Linux.

russellskanne: Well, they can release a linux client and leave it optional. No contradiction here.
In order for it to be optional, it must first exist as an option. This would be akin to expecting USB support as an option in Windows 3.11 for workgroups.

russellskanne: WTF! The marking is gone! Are you fu**ing kidding me GOG!?
Ah, only on the left wrist it is.

This whole so-called "optional" client is nothing more than a marketing lie from my point of view. They invest too much into this and so it won't stay "optional". Besides: Even today there are games bound to Galaxy as multiplayer-option. So GOG is in fact building a big lie upon the customers. Best to leave this place, when it is time.

as long as i can still download drm-free offline installers i'm happy. otherwise i'd just use steam.

Still happy if you have to fully DL the entire game just for a few kb patch when galaxy/steam users get the actual patch? ;p

yes, doesn't bother me. if it did i'd have started using steam a long time ago. fortunately living in a metro area affords me internet access with no data cap.

and yes, being able to simple download a small patch is great but i'd much rather have fully patched installers. both are preferable though.

With net neutrality on the way out, data caps and/or throttling are likely on the way in.
It's up for a name change.........LilSteamGal.

No problem: if Galaxy becomes no an longer an option then gOg earning my money will also be no longer an option. Hopefully it won't come to that.

russellskanne: UPDATE: They've removed the marking. One can just conclude that they intend to make Galaxy mandatory in the furure. THANKS GOG! :P
What does "They've removed the marking." mean?
