Yep, not going to buy anything if this is not resolved. Please make this optional.

tremere110: No, just no. This is essentially a way to pay with PayPal without entering your PayPal password. I keep them different because I want them secure. This isn't optional either, you either agree to let GoG purchases bypass your password or you can't use PayPal. I want to be able to enter my password each time I make a purchase because I want to make sure I'm the one purchasing. GoG already has issues with account security and people logging into other people accounts. I don't need a way for someone to bypass the password once there. GoG seems to want to do everything in their power to prevent me from spending here.

paladin181: Uhm, I've never NOT had to enter my password into paypal to make a purchase here. Everytime I buy something I have to punch in my password on paypal. What are you on about?
It's a brand new feature introduced yesterday. Make a purchase after this feature was introduced with PayPal, never enter your PayPal password again. You can't opt out either.

It's convenient for users who don't mind sure, but terrible from a security standpoint.

[EDIT] It's also implemented in a shoddy fashion - typical for new features from GoG.

I thought we had all concluded that Paypal was a mistake.
Talking about Paypal...apparently paying with that no longer works? It says: "Selected payment method is currently unavailable, please choose a different one." So I guess I can now no longer even buy games here.

/edit: I really shouldn't have clicked on anything when I noticed my dot is gone. The pay button was green available but no, I had to select Paypal because I thought it would be the right thing to do only to be greeted with an error. Great.

Leroux: It's fine for you to offer direct debit payment via PayPal as an option, but not okay that agreeing to this is now required to make a purchase. I'd like a way to opt out of it, please, or I will have to refrain from buying on GOG.
Agreed. This is NO way to do business and GOG should change this asap. I too won't buy anything anymore before this has been changed and I keep my promises - always!

No, we haven't. I like Paypal and it helped me on several occasions. GOG uiing a NEW approach has nothing to do with Paypal in general.

Maybe GOG is already on it to change it? *hopes*

Oh, and apparently I now have somehow four pending orders of the same game, even though I'm completely unable to buy via Paypal and thus couldn't even click on "buy". Not sure how you managed that but great work, GOG *clap*

Fairfox: i prefer not havin' to use my password wach time. i certain lee hope its not reverted for paranoids :/
This has NOTHING to do with paranoia - it's a legit security issue and there is also the possibility to make it OPTIONAL Fairfox. If you don't care about getting your data stored that's fine but please don't call those who do paranois. I also don't call you careless.

Pending unpaid orders will be deleted automatically after a while iirc - so don't worry about those.

Oh darn, just contacted support about that issue (and also not being able to buy via Paypal at all).

It is, but unfortunately, it's often unavoidable if you want to buy from individuals or smaller businesses. It's not as big of a deal for individuals in Europe where PayPal is regulated like a bank. But in the US, where it's a money transfer service there's all sorts of shenanigans they can get up to. As in randomly seizing large amounts of money and refusing to either forward it to the intended recipient or return it to the senders.

Ah, that'd explain why across the ponders are fine with it.

This is a really lame change, Gog should change it back to the old way as soon as possible. Like some other users I definitely won't be buying anything on Gog under those circumstances.

Will GOG ever stop messing things up? (Rhetorical question, don't answer.) There was nothing wrong with the way it was implemented before. Nobody asked for this and I doubt very many actually want it. Revert it or at least make it optional.

THAT is exactly the real question. Instead of GOG fixing things (like maybe the forum which is broken since decades) they always introduce new things replacing things that already worked. It would be something to laugh about if it weren't so sad.

Dear GOG: If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

I am also not able to buy anything with paypal. I hope gog quickly fixes whatever it broke.

Jebus. Thanks for the info.

Yeah GOG. Fix this please.
EDIT: To be fair, VALVe works the same way with a subscription payment for ease of access. But I opt around that when I can so I get to keep my account secured by entering my paypal password every time.

My paypal address is different than my GOG email, which makes it a little more difficult. I do wish they wouldn't autopopulate the email address field when they pull up paypal.
