Just wanted to pay something and ran into the same thing. GOG now wants upfront permission from me to use my PayPal account for payment. Sorry but I won't give that permission. This makes paying on GOG more inconvenient because now I have to choose other ways of paying that are more of a hassle than PayPal. But I will never choose a payment method that doesn't require a 2 factor authorization from me for every single payment I make.
SIGH!
Dear GOG.
I'm one of your customers who are rather forgiving and patient.
And I have to confess that I'm one of those persons, who dared to use PayPal's One Touch app. (Only for GOG and my grandkids.)
Therefore I didn't expect that I too would run into problems when trying to feed my backlog.
But it seems that you don't want my money.

Going through check-out, I got this message:

Please wait...

gixgox, we are waiting for verification of your payment attempt - please be patient as this may take a moment.

That "moment" seems to be a close relative to your "soon" - it lasts looooooooong.
After some minutes I took the first screenshot at 2019-08-02-[01-42-22]. The last screenshot shows the time stamp 2019-08-02-[02-00-57].
I gave up then.

Dear GOG, if you want my money, please tell me how I should pay you via PayPal.
I even tried to throw the money at the monitor...
See added screenshots.

Apart from my problem with this purchase, I agree with those users who demand that you give your clients the choice, how to use PayPal ( or other paying methods).
Let's play fair, and make "Opt-Out" possible.
Thank you.

I don't use Paypal, but this is just plain stupid. What a fucked up world we live in, losing so many things for the sake of convenience.

For folks wanting to buy something until this bugged implementation is fixed, maybe try using https://www.paysafecard.com. Visiting this link, you should automatically be redirected to your country's version of the site. There you'll find the info related to your country, along with the map for paysafecard vending machines located in your region.

And, maybe most will wait the outcome or fix and not sign up/join/enrol for another way to buy here.

With the wording of the agreement that appears you must agree to continue, the pre-auth token that appears in your Paypal account and the inability for customers without a credit card linked to their account to use it ... sounds like GOG is using the recurring payments part of the Paypal API to facilitate standard singular transactions. Not the best choice if correct.
Just to add my voice.
I'll don't buy games here until a choice is given as before.
Sorry GOG...I rarely use Paypal and It's sad that Steam/Humble is now better than you...

MarkoH01: I just took a few screenshots from a test which will now be part of the support ticket I am about to create in a few minutes. Every screenshot is taken in chronological order of the purchase while the first one is clearly shown that One Touch is turned off. If somebody could tell me how to skip or opt out in any way - be my guest.
I did a test just right now and my results are the same (one touch is disabled in paypal account, except for the 4_payment.jpg, paypal didn't asked me that)

As you can see there is no skip option.

While we can cancel the autorishation every time we buy something it'll be a hassle, and I'm speculating here if paypal for any reason decided that "something is going on" with all the cancels maybe we could have problems with that.
Something that I don't want to happen.

Funny thing going on... just wanted to test and see if anything changed... now the popup for paypal appears for a few seconds, then it closes and leaves me with the gog message "We are waiting for verification...". This message sits there for a minute or something and then the page goes back to checkout o.O

Breja: No explanation is going to change the bottom line - I won't purchase anything here unless I can do it the way it worked before.

I'm simply in no mood for more of GOG's wishy-washy PR talk or belated passive aggressive apologies.
Both tis completely understandable and while I am willing to talk with GOG I also wont buy anything. At the moment I simply hope that it is just an unwilling mistake and they realize (and change it) when they work my support ticket.

alexandros050: I have the same problem too..Tried to purchase a game right now and I cannot use my paypal balance, I can only pay from my credit card.Hopefully gog can fix this soon.
At least for this matter they already confirmed that it is an unintended bug that they want to fix - hopefully they will do so with the other issue as well. Each day they don't do anything is a day without purchases for many here.

I don't see any reason why I should make sure GOG gets my money if they don't intend to make me WANT to give them money, but thank you for your suggestion for those who see things different than me.

It hopefully means GOG is trying to fix things ... sometimes GOGs fixes actually are working in the end ... sometimes they make things even worse. Really hope it is the first thing this time.

Thanks for explaining your point. Pre-approved payments and One Touch are two services that work in a different way, hence the misunderstanding.

We just updated the PayPal flow.

It now should enable all of you to use your PayPal balance/credits and we made sure that payments are one-time only. One Touch is still available as an option and works automatically if you already enabled it on your device.

You already said that in your last post. I will test this immediately and come back to you in case it should not be the case (like it was before). Thank you for your reply.

Edit: I can confirm that it has been fixed (no approval message anymore)! Thank you!

I confirm that it works well on my side too :) Thank you again for the time you took to explain clearly things to the support (with screenshots etc.).

Yup, paypal now works correctly for me, too. Good that the issue was resolved!
Ok, well, I'll give credit where credit is due, at least this time things got fixed relatively quickly. Good work.
Nice to see that Gog has reacted to complaints. Good, I'll still buy games here then.
