Apparently this was posted on thier twitter whatchamahoozits
Amazing news coming Monday! Super excited! You have no idea how tough it is not to start yelling about it! But it's secret! Until Monday!
I don't want to tease, it is just tough not to say anything! I might be tempted, however. Have to think about it over the weekend. ;)
Okay, we will do hints. It is awesome news for our old school fans. (anything more direct might get me in trouble)
Monday, early, actually. I suppose if the president of the company messages me to leak it I would. Til then, it is teasing. Sorry guys.
@TTU_VAPOR It doesn't have to do with any specific intellectual property...

Lets see, old school games & not a single IP (which implies multiple). If this announcement involves a certain website that we're all familiar with, my savings are going to take a bloody nosedive
Oyyyy, that would be amazing.
If it is LucasArts, I'm hoping they price things fairly.
Personally, I'm rather hoping it's Origin, or somethin'. ;) ...I know it's not, but I can dream! [EDIT: Wasn't paying attention. So the Twitter belongs to LucasArts, not GOG, eh? Dur dur dur.]

That would be insane if Lucas Arts came to GOG. Aliasalpha you've gone and got my hope up now.

To be honest I would be more then willing to pay $9.99 for most of Lucas Arts old games.
Edit: Ok after having a quick session of day dreaming my brain decided to go all logical on me and spoil it. I think we would of probably heard something from GOG about a massive publisher. I mean Lucas Arts is one of the top developers for GOG to snag I would expect at least something.

More remakes on the way, and probably for console?
I might be surprised but for now, colour me unimpressed about any "amazing news" concerning LucasArts. I admit I'd get a heart attack for a modern remake of Tie Fighter.

I doubt it'd be that actually. Until the monkey island remake is released, they don't know how well the market for it would do
Maybe, but as recent exemple Fallout 3 showed that it is possible to sell by using an old name. Bioware is trying to do the same stunt with Dragon Age by repeating "Baldur's Gate" as much as possible during interviews. I wouldn't be surprised to see LA try to whore Monkey Island's and other series' name in the same way, but it's true that they are so far not putting as much money in the promotional campaign as the aforementioned two. It seems to be more of an experiment than a full-fledged marketting plan.
So suspenseful...
This announcement, I cannot wait for.
Doesn't GOG usually announce new publishers on Thursdays?
In any case I suspect LucasArts is probably going to do their own thing with their retro games, especially with this Special Edition remake of Monkey Island they are distributing themselves.

Sounds a lot more like "we (finally) acknowledge the stupid mistake of dropping our nr.1-5 franchises, with the exception of everything Star Wars" to me.
As far has knowing the market for it: they considered adventures dead. And while Lucasarts has gotten into some financial troubles in the last years, TellTale proved them wrong time and time again, still going strong 5 years later.
As for an announcement regarding gog.com - I doubt it. As much as I'd like to see this happen, the odds speak against it. Steam seems a much more likely candidate for their older stuff, as TellTale uses it and like it or not, gog.com still is the underdog in digital distribution.
Last but not least: yeah, we'd probably would all cherish old Lucasarts games being re-released in such a way. But even thinking about a new Full Throttle, Indy, Zak, Grim Fandango game.... would drive us wiiiild. :)
They are going to bring back Full Throtle, the dig, tie fighter, and making a new Grim Fandango.
I can dream can't I?
Grim Fandango 2? Believe!

ElPixelIlustre: Grim Fandango 2? Believe!

ONLY if its a game set in the same universe, there's no scope at all for a direct sequel

Yes you can,

I let some wee out.
They did say more old-school game announcement were upcoming in their Monkey Island news release. They got my attention for sure! Roll on, Monday!
