oooh gonna be funny when someone with actual skill gathers up all their personal info and posts it all over the net.

dirtyharry50: It affects everyone using the service when they cannot access it. How hard is that for you to understand?

I don't think you were joking. I don't believe you. In fact, I often find you unbelievable.

Both Steam and Origin certainly are more than barely affected when their users cannot login to the service. I find it almost humorous that you fail to understand something so obvious.
Why is it something worth getting emotional over? I'm not going to give you the time day bro, especially not to some humorless Mac hipster who still hasn't obviously gotten over that spastic fit you had over the Grimoire demo link I posted (which the game's creator said was fine). Complaining about something as trivial as DDoS attacks is like complaining that you can't drive to work because of terrible weather.

Buzz off moron.

No wonder I can't connect to my Inventory since hours ago... also just now I lost connection from Steam server in the middle of online gameplay, maybe not related to this incident.

Cloud computing/gaming/streaming is the future, indeed.

I'm not getting emotional at all. You certainly seem to be though. Take a deep breath. Everything is going to be fine.

And I'm not your "bro."

Grimoire is history. It'll probably never see the light of day as a finished game worth playing. I do not care about Grimoire anymore.

You said what you said Crosmando and I reserve the right to respond when it suits me.

I don't get those DDoS attacks for no real reason. There may be targets that "deserve" a hit as a form of protest (I'm not going to pass moral judgement here). Attacking steam... I hereby express utter indifference.
If you want to pull a practical joke, block a subwaycar with an infinite conga line while welding the wheels to the tracks with thermite. Of course that would require balls. (Don't do this it has been done years ago.)

timppu: Anyway, I presume the offline mode of Steam works, possibly. I was thinking of playing a bit of either Half-life 2 Episode 1 or Saints Row 2 later today, but failing that, GOG Icewind Dale it is.
For the record, you can launch any part of HL2 outside of Steam.

Quoted for posterity. Keep in mind this is a US citizen, and the US gave us last year the following rageworthy topics:

Last time I checked we were on a gaming forum, in a thread focused on topic related directly to gaming.

Besides, if you're saying that because there are bigger problems, we should act as if the smaller ones don't exist, I think you're the one with the skewed perspective here.

No he's right, DDoS attacks are meaningless, and happen all the time. 7 billion people and people get spastic over 1 script kiddie with too much free time using an open-source program freely available on the net.

Get a life. The only people doing the real hacking these days are getting paid by the US government.

Keep in mind that the poster is a Russian citizen and the Russian Federation gave us the following rageworthy topics:

-Putin
-an anti-gay bill
-possibly rigged elections
-communism

Just because someone is from a country you may not like doesn't mean you should belittle them for simply being from that country. For the record, I don't have a problem with Russia but I figured you should know how it feels to have your country's issues trotted out like that.

Have a nice day.

It's not a "problem", it's fucking nothing. It's of less consequence than weather grounding an airplane, anyone in the world who can put 2 and 2 together can use a script.
DDoS costs networks, providers, and webmasters lots of money. Buying DDoS is far cheaper than handling it.

Check out this cool map: http://www.digitalattackmap.com

The rest of the world seems a lot quieter than normal but the US is swamped.

DAlancole: -Putin
What's wrong with him? :) Still better than most European politicians - at least he doesn't tell people how to flush their toilets or ban smoked meat and menthol cigs.
avatar
DAlancole: -an anti-gay bill
Yeah, one valid point.
avatar
DAlancole: -possibly rigged elections
Same was said about the last election in Poland. Franky, I don't believe either.
avatar
DAlancole: -communism
Now that ended more than 20 years ago :)

Either way - attacking private company for something government does is stupid. It's like someone attacked GOG because he\she' s not happy about what polish gov does :)
