This thread is becoming hilarious. Started with a DDoS (oh, such big news yo!) and now people that probably were born in the '90s debate communism and the fall of the Berlin wall...

I'm getting more wine...

>DDoSing children are still calling themselves hackers and they think what they do is impressive

I would laugh if I wasn't bitter.

Novotnus: What's wrong with him? :) Still better than most European politicians - at least he doesn't tell people how to flush their toilets or ban smoked meat and menthol cigs.
Yeah, he just bans any meat that is foreign whenever he likes and thinks that will hit the post iron courtain countries the most.

darthspudius: Idiots, I'd love to know what they're trying to achieve.
Hunting for achievements, maybe? ;)

Anyway, I had some weird issues today with Steam claiming it could not find an internet connection even though I was online or giving out errors and saying that the server might be offline when I tried to access community features even though Steam was up. It usually goes away when I try again (or at least after a few tries), but it keeps on reappearing. No idea if it's related at all, but I didn't have these issues before and this would be the most simple explanation. ;)
Doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do. Granted using stupid stuff like DDoS is moronic to begin with, but with Steam and with the amount of users it has?
I wish they did it and then said it's because they're against DRM. If it's part of a political act, then I see this as a legitimate form of civil disobedience.

If it's just a "prank", then come on guys... if you're going to go through the effort, why not try to make a positive difference. Even if it's after the fact, just say you're against DRM and have disrupted two largest DRM platforms. If Steam users get locked out of their games temporarily, then boo hoo, that's part of what you voluntarily signed up for with a DRM platform. Maybe you'll consider a DRM-free alternative next time.

dirtyharry50: Leave it to you to celebrate the inconvenience of forty million people who saw fit to dump their earnings on a bunch of glorified rentware providers that can apparently be shut down by a bunch of script kiddies.

I can't be bothered trying to deal with this level of ignorance. You live in your own reality.

you know you would almost feel bad that gog was not attacked , dont take this seriously but think just a small attack and our drm free site would have been in news with the big ones and free publicity and sympathy .
UUggghhh who cares.. It's going to change anything.. Just keep feeding them the attention they crave

Would have been a nice angle too: "While Steam and Origin users were locked out of their games during the attack, GOG users were happily playing their games without any problems."
I still can't access the steamcommunity website. The store is OK.

I guess such reports could have made GOG the next target. :P

I meant that such reports could have been made if GOG had been targeted along with Steam and Origin. The only thing it would prevent us from doing would be buying new games, downloading games and posting on the forum. We would have no problem installing games already downloaded, or playing games already installed.
